2023 Annual Election

The 2023 Annual Election is now underway to elect VUSU office-bearers and National Union of Students conference delegates.

You will be able to find all election-related information here, including notices, forms and results. We will update this page regularly throughout the election process with forms and election information going up as required. Please contact the Returning Officer, whose details are below, if you have any questions that are not covered by the information on this page.

This election will take place online, with students voting via a secure link sent to their university email address.

Election Notices & Timelines:

Please note that Ticket registration is on a first-come, first served basis. If candidates register a largely similar or identical name, whoever submitted the registration first will be given the rights to the name. If identical or near identical ticket applications are received before the opening of registrations, they are treated as equal and will be subject to a random number draw to determine who registers the name.

2020 VU Student Union Elections

The 2020 VUSU Elections shall be conducted online this year under a Temporary Emergency Provision of the Election Regulations.

Ruling 9 September 2020 3:11pm

Women's Officer, LGBTQIA+ Officer, Cultural Diversity Officer, Accessibility Officer and Indigenous Officer will all require Statutory Declarations to be filled out alongside the Nomination Form and returned to me (RO) before the close of the Nomination Period (25th of September).
These Statutory Declarations will be provided alongside the Nomination Forms.

Ruling 3 September 2020 3:38pm

All campaigning must not begin until October the 6th and must be approved campaign material, please remember as per the Regulations:

21.6.3 Within 24 hours of creating:
21.6.3.1 A social media application:
(a) Group or group chat with more than 20 users;
(b) Page; or
(c) Account; or
21.6.3.2 A website;
(a) For the purposes of the election (other than a purely administrative
platform for organising campaigners),
A candidate must provide the Returning Officer with a link to the group,
page, account or website.

21.6.4 Any material, whether written, electronic or otherwise, that comments on
the election must carry approval of the Returning Officer and the name
and student number of the VU student who authorises it and takes
responsibility for its contents.

The Notice of Election states Nomination Forms are available on the 21st and to be returned by the 15th, this is incorrect.

Nomination Forms are available from the 14th September and must be returned by the 25th of September.
