Women’s

Welcome to the 4th edition of Hyde, our Women's Edition! The Hyde team has been working tirelessly to get our fourth edition out and my, is it bigger than ever! Our Women's edition is the biggest yet; from a normal 62 page magazine to 96 pages! A few examples highlighted in this edition include poems, stories and reflections from students, small business section supporting people with businesses who are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, a top 10 of famous women in history as well as female staff members from VU telling their journey in leadership. This edition is in support of women, to empower each other and lend a hand when we can. While there is still much work to do to improve the standing of women, we are proud to be able to present the work of women from VU. We also hope that this edition will inspire women and help them show the world their talents because we know that there are still many more skilled women out there. Happy reading! Enjoy this amazing edition of 2020

Cultural Diversity

Welcome Hyde readers to the fifth wonderful edition of Hyde for 2020 - our Cultural Diversity edition! We at Hyde hope that you enjoy this very special edition - created by the hands of students from different cultures, who were brave enough to share their own experiences and traditions. Multiculturalism is so important, especially in our VU community. We hope that throughout this edition of Hyde you discover just how incredible the students, staff and community at VU are, and recognise the great amount of Cultural events and clubs our university has to offer. VU, VUSU and Hyde pride ourselves on all the different cultures that make up the VU community - from all walks of life. We want to thank all those who have contributed and to note this edition is the second 96 page magazine for the year! We would also like to thank VUSU, VU staff, alumni, students and local businesses for their ongoing support. Happy reading! Enjoy another amazing edition of 2020!

Indigenous

Welcome to the sixth and final edition for 2020 - the beautiful Indigenous edition! I would first like to acknowledge the Ancestors, Elders and families of the Boon Wurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of the land in which Hyde was made. We at Hyde would also like to inform everyone that the contents in this edition may bring up strong emotions for our readers, and as such might contain narratives that could be emotionally challenging to our readers. This is the largest the Hyde team has published all year with 122 pages filled with amazing content produced by VU staff, students and external organisations. In this edition, you'll find pieces of gold and a little bit more, stories of everyday life, imagination, struggle, but most of all, stories of resilience. It's been amazing working on this edition and through many conversations, long hours and countless email exchanges, we are so proud to welcome this edition to the Hyde 2020 collection.
