Back by popular demand as part of Mental Health Week 2018. 
VUSU is heavily subsidising 'Blended Mental Health First Aid Training for Tertiary Students' by Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Mental Health First Aid is a certified course valued and sought after in many industries such as Social Work, Education, Youth Work, Nursing, Paramedicine and Psychology. MHFA is also a generally valuable skill to have in the workforce.

Once the online eLearning module and the class are completed you will receive a digital certificate be qualified as an Accredited Mental Health First Aider for three years. (Please note this is not a VET course and you will NOT receive a Statement of Attainment) 

The blended tertiary MHFA course will be held on October 9th at Footscray Park room TBA. This session is worth between $100 - $200 depending on your course but will be subsidised to just $55* by VUSU!

As well as the class there is also an initial mandatory online component which is self-paced and can be completed over several days and roughly takes between 6-10 hours of independent study, depending on when you sign up, you will have a minimum of 2 weeks prep time to complete this. This MUST be completed before the in-class component. Your facilitator for the in-class component will be Denise Warmington.

Denise is a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse who has worked in the area of mental health for over 16 years. Denise is a passionate and enthusiastic Principal Master MHFA Instructor who has a warm and engaging teaching style. Having facilitated more than 150 MHFA courses for over 1,500 people, Denise is dedicated to increasing participants mental health literacy, confidence and willingness to offer support to those experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. 

Cost to students: $55* (includes in-class session, MHFA standard course manual, eLearning component, and pizza)

Cost to VUSU VIPs $50 (includes in-class session, MHFA standard course manual, eLearning component, and pizza)

No refunds! It is your responsibility to complete the online module and attend the class VUSU will not be able to grant refunds if you do not pass the eLearning or cannot attend the class.
